Job Description
REMUNERATION: R1 172 844 TOTAL COST TO COMPANY PER ANNUM
PURPOSE:
To drive and support innovation, research, and technology implementation initiatives that enhance Johannesburg Water’s operational efficiency, service delivery, and sustainability. Apply advanced technical knowledge, research capability, and project management skills to ensure that innovative solutions are effectively evaluated, piloted, implemented, and monitored, in alignment with corporate strategies, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving the identification, evaluation, and implementation of innovative technologies and solutions that enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and service delivery. Leading and supporting innovation projects from research and concept development through piloting, implementation, monitoring, and post-implementation evaluation. Conducting research, feasibility studies, and technical assessments to identify solutions to operational challenges and emerging business needs. Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with academic institutions, research bodies, industry stakeholders, and technology providers. Managing technology deployment initiatives and ensuring successful integration of new solutions into business operations. Monitoring project performance, budgets, timelines, risks, and compliance requirements to ensure effective delivery and value realisation. Establishing and maintaining quality assurance, governance, and performance monitoring frameworks for innovation and technology initiatives. Analysing data and research outcomes to provide insights and recommendations that support strategic and operational decision-making. Preparing and presenting reports, business cases, technical papers, dashboards, and executive briefs for management and governance structures. Facilitating stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration across internal departments and external partners. Representing the organisation at industry forums, conferences, exhibitions, and professional networking platforms. Managing knowledge-sharing initiatives and maintaining repositories of research findings, lessons learned, and innovation best practices. Supporting procurement activities relating to innovation and technology projects, including the development of technical specifications and evaluation criteria. Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, organisational policies, governance requirements, and industry standards. Providing mentorship and technical guidance to interns, graduates, and young professionals participating in innovation and research programmes
JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- MSc/MEng NQF 9 in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water Utilisation, Water Engineering, Hydrology, Biochemistry, Civil Engineering.or related
- 3 years’ experience in research, technology implementation, or innovation projects
- 1 year experience in SAP or related ERP
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Valid driver’s license
